St Andrew’s Church is four miles west of Ledbury just off the A4172 Roman Road about half a mile south of the Trumpet Crossroads. Much of the church building is thought to date from the thirteenth century. It is built of local red sandstone on a mound which until fairly recently was surrounded by a moat. The church was extensively restored in 1865. Additional repairs were carried out in the 1980s and again in 2005 when the roof and Victorian bell turret were both renovated.
Brief History
The oldest parts of the church are 13th century. The heavy and ancient screen which separates the small nave from the tiny chancel is 14th century, as are the roof beams.
The south porch is 15th century.
The bell tower was rebuilt in 1865 and there are two bells.
